<![CDATA[This is Part 9 of my AI PGA Tour golf betting series. In this experiment I have started with a $100 bankroll and I plan to bet $5 each week using the Kelly Criteria to distribute the $5 most effectively across my picks. However, if I run out of funds I will end this experiment so at worst I will have this for 20 events.

Results So Far:

Starting Bankroll: $100
Current Bankroll: $86.73 (not including the bets for this week)
Outright Winners Picked: 2 (2/23 if you count all my picks)
Expert Winners Picked: 3 (2/87 if you count all unique expert picks)
Last Week’s Picks: Mexico Open at VidantaWorld 2025

Last Week’s Results

Last week our picks fell short with AI picking a trio of long shots to win the tournament.
AI Golf Betting Picks – Part 7 – Genesis Invitational 2025

<![CDATA[This is Part 7 of my AI PGA Tour golf betting series. In this experiment I have started with a $100 bankroll and I plan to bet $5 each week using the Kelly Criteria to distribute the $5 most effectively across my picks. I have a prompt built to have AI do research on the tournament and pick 3 players to win. If my bankroll grows I will add $2.50 to my weekly bets for every $50 additional in my bankroll. However, if I run out of funds I will end this experiment so at worst I will have this for 20 events.

Results So Far:

Starting Bankroll: $100
Current Bankroll: $94.73 (not including the bets for this week)
Outright Winners Picked: 2 (2/17 if you count all my picks)
Expert Winners Picked: 1 (1/63 if you count all unique expert picks)
Last Week’s Picks: AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2025

!--more--

Last Week’s Results

Unfortunately my scheduled didn’t allow for a post to be made for last week’s Waste Management Open, however our AI model had success at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The top picked player was Scottie Scheffler, not surprisingly, but it was Rory McIlroy as the number two pick who pulled out a big win for us.

With Rory and the AI’s win at Pebble Beach it brought our bankroll back to $94.73 6 weeks into the experiment.

A Glimpse into the 2025 Genesis Invitational

With the recent wildfires in SoCal the Genesis had to move to Torrey Pines so I’ve copy-pasta’d the details from a few weeks ago since past results don’t mean much now for Riviera Country Club.

The course details:

Course: Torrey Pines (South Course)
Location: San Diego, CA
Par 72
Grass Type: Fairways: Kikuyu overseeded with Rye & Greens: Bentgrass with Poa Annua
Past Winners: Matthieu Pavon – 13 (2024), Max Homa -13 (2023), Luke List -15 (2022), Patrick Reed -14 (2021), Marc Leishman -15 (2020)

Who The Experts Picked To Win?

The only player that had multiple selections this week by the experts is Rory McIlroy. Rory dominated in difficult conditions at Pebble Beach to capture his first victory of the year and the experts are doubling down on him this week at Torrey Pines.

Who A(I) Picked To Win?

This may be AI’s most difficult week as it’s comparing a field of players to a tournament that doesn’t line up with the course that it typically plays. I provide next to no guidance and let it do it’s thing. Fortunately AI is typically cautious always picking the best players to win. We’ll see if AI can shake off the confusion and go back to back with picking the correct winner this week as it picks the players with the 3 best odds. In this case AI think the top 3 players have a 90% chance of beating the field.

AI determined win probability:

Scottie Scheffler: Win Probability: 40%

Rory McIlroy: Win Probability: 30%

Collin Morikawa: Win Probability: 20%

AI bet distribution for $5:

Scottie Scheffler: Proportional Bet = 2.12 units

Rory McIlroy: Proportional Bet = 1.69 units

Collin Morikawa: Proportional Bet = 1.19 units]]>

This is Part 7 of my AI PGA Tour golf betting series.

Collin Morikawa: Proportional Bet = 1.19 units

Morikawa stayed in contention from start to finish, however a poor start to his final round all but ruined his chances and left him to finish comfortably in second place behind Matsuyama who set records across the board. Homa, our other pick, continued his inconsistent play ultimately finishing at T26.

We weren’t alone in our picks last week with 3/7 experts also choosing Collin Morikawa and none of them choosing Hideki.

A Glimpse into the 2025 Sony Open Tournament

We’re officially back to a fully staffed tournament effectively lessening our chances to pick the right winner. It’s another notoriously easy course with 4 out of the last 5 years with scores -15 under or better. The biggest difference to last week is a drop from a par 73 down to a par 70.

The course details:

Course: Waialae Country Club
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii
Par 70
Grass Type: Bermuda
Past Winners: Grayson Murray RIP - 17 (2024), Si Woo Kim -18 (2023), Hideki Matsuyama -23 (2022), Kevin Na -21 (2021), Cameron Smith -11 (2020)

Who The Experts Picked To Win?

After dropping a goose egg, our experts will look to redeem themselves this week.
Results So Far:

Starting Bankroll: $100

Current Bankroll: $95.23 (not including the bets for this week)

Last Week’s Results

Last week our AI picks chose Collin Morikawa and Max Homa.

Past Winners: Grayson Murray RIP – 17 (2024), Si Woo Kim -18 (2023), Hideki Matsuyama -23 (2022), Kevin Na -21 (2021), Cameron Smith -11 (2020)

After dropping a goose egg, our experts will look to redeem themselves this week. The overwhelming favorites here for the experts are Maverick McNealy with 4 selections followed by Russell Henley with 3 selections. The surprising dark horse that shows up in 2 picks is Taylor Montgomery. Full breakdown of the expert picks down below:

Indie Hacking - December 2024 Recap

<![CDATA[In this series of indie hacking recaps I’ll give an overview of what I was able to contribute to my side hustles throughout the previous month and the impact that it has had on the websites. As of right now I have two projects live, a skin care aging tool and a token calculator for OpenAI API.

!--more--

Skin Care Aging Tool & Resource Center

This project is the one I’m putting more effort into as I think there is a better opportunity to monetize it through a skincare newsletter and through affiliate sales when recommending skincare products in the associated blog content. If the site’s traffic grows enough I could also add some non-invasive ads.

For the month of December, I focused heavily on blog content adding 6 pieces of content. I want to target adding 1-2 posts to the blog each week in an effort to gain some organic traffic.

Key Stats:

Blog Posts: 6 (+6 for the month)
Email Signups: 0
User Interactions: 88

For the 88 users that submitted to the tool, 0 of them signed up for the newsletter. Some quick research shows that newsletter signups are typically around 2% so I will let this ride for a little bit longer before looking into it further.

From a search perspective, I’ve been having issues with Bing Webmasters indexing my website. For some reason it’s looking at the http version of the site and excluding it from the index even though I’ve submitted a sitemap and single URL indexing with the https version. I’ll continue to battle with Bing so I can start diversifying my traffic sources. On the Google search side, I’m starting to gain some momentum as the month of December went on and I’d like to continue the growth moving into January.

Skincare-2024-12-GoogleSearch

Looking forward into January the key tasks I want to complete are: fix the Bing indexing issue and 4-6 new blog posts.

File Token Calculator for OpenAI

This site I don’t plan on building out long term as I really don’t have an interest in it. However it will give a good representation on how a single page website performs over time. You can already see Google may have axed it from it’s algorithm or maybe it was a holiday lull as I don’t see non-working professionals using this tool in their off hours.

TokenCalculator-2024-12-GoogleSearch

TokenCalculator-2024-12-BingSearch

Fortunately, this site indexed fine into Bing which is odd since I took the same steps on my other website. I think I may use this site as a banner / footer ads place holder for my other website in an effort to build some backlinks for it.

Indie Hacking New Year’s Resolution

In previous years, I’ve always set multiple goals for myself and never really followed through with any. I’m not sure if this year will be any different since I have a history of giving up, but this year I have a singular goal. That goal is to build a legitimate side hustle and dedicate at a minimum of 30-60 minutes a day towards it.

That project I’ve already decided on and will show up in next month’s recap.]]>

AI Golf Betting – Part 2 – The Sentry 2025

<![CDATA[This is Part 2 of my AI PGA Tour golf betting series.

Current Bankroll: $100.23 (not including the bets for this week)
Outright Winners Picked: 1 (1/3 if you count all my picks)
Expert Winners Picked: 1 (1/10 if you count all expert picks)
Last Week’s Picks: Hero World Challenge 2024

  !--more--

A Glimpse into the 2025 The Sentry Tournament

I started this experiment at an odd time with the Hero World Challenge and then a few week waiting period before the true season start at The Sentry. The first attempt proved to be a success in the fact I won a whopping $0.23 which I’d normally take a no loss any week for golf betting, but considering it was a 20 player field it was not surprising to come out ahead.

Back to the tournament at hand, this is a limited field capped at 60 players comprised of all tournament winners from 2024 as well as the top 50 in last season’s FedEx Cup standings. With such a small field there's fortunately no cut line to worry about, but this also doesn’t allow for a full on test of our man vs machine betting challenge.

The course details:

Course: Plantation Course at Kapalua
Location: Kapalua, Hawaii
Par 73
Grass Type: Celebration Bermuda
Past Winners: Chris Kirk -29 (2024), Jon Rahm -27 (2023), Cameron Smith (2022), Harris English (2021), Justin Thomas -20 (2020)

Who The Experts Picked To Win?

The popular picks this week for the experts look to be Colin Morikawa leading the wat followed by Justin Thomas, Akshay Bhatia and Sahith Theegala. Personally I’m hoping Barry Plummer is on the right track given AI’s picks for this week matching his.

table border="1" style="border-collapse: collapse; text-align: left;"

  thead

    tr

      thSource/th

      thWriter/th

      thPick/th

    /tr

  /thead

  tbody

    tr

      tdGolf Week/td

      tdRiley Hamel/td

      tdColin Morikawa/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdGolf Week/td

      tdRiley Hamel/td

      tdAkshay Bhatia/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdGolf Week/td

      tdRiley Hamel/td

      tdMax Greyserman/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdGolf Week/td

      tdRiley Hamel/td

      tdJake Knapp/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdGolf Monthly/td

      tdElliot Heath/td

      tdJustin Thomas/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdGolf Monthly/td

      tdElliot Heath/td

      tdAkshay Bhatia/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdGolf Monthly/td

      tdBarry Plummer/td

      tdCollin Morikawa/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdGolf Monthly/td

      tdBarry Plummer/td

      tdMax Homa/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdGolf Monthly/td

      tdPaul Higham/td

      tdCollin Morikawa/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdGolf Monthly/td

      tdPaul Higham/td

      tdSahith Theegala/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdPGA Tour Golfbets/td

      tdWill Gray/td

      tdAkshay Bhatia/td

    /tr

    tr

      tdPGA Tour Golfbets/td

      tdWill Gray/td

tdJ.T. However, Max Homa who can be considered a long shot at +4500 to win entered the top 3 to win.

Xander Schauffele – 25% chance to win
Colin Morikawa – 20% chance to win
Max Homa – 15% chance to win

Then when factoring in the Kelly Criterion to place the bet, Xander was completely removed meaning the $5 bet was split between Colin Morikawa and Max Homa.

This is Part 2 of my AI PGA Tour golf betting series.

Current Bankroll: $100.23 (not including the bets for this week)

Outright Winners Picked: 1 (1/3 if you count all my picks)

Expert Winners Picked: 1 (1/10 if you count all expert picks)

Who I Picked To Win?

Based on the analysis, the AI determined the following players to win which is not surprising for Xander and Colin given they have the best odds.

Morikawa is receiving $2.92 of the bet and Homa is receiving the remaining $2.08.

With him out for the next few weeks, Xander will likely be the player to beat over the next few tournaments. I’m very curious to see how this weeks plays out given the surprising Max Homa pick.
